Today we’re going to take a quick look at the top-selling HP netbook at Amazon, the HP Mini 210-4150NR. The 10.1 inch netbook is currently available for $295 which is a great price for a lightweight netbook. HP are pushing the Beats Audio functionality of the Mini 210-4150 which we’ll come on to in a moment. But for starters here are the hard numbers on the model.

HP Mini 210-4150 Specifications

* Intel Atom N2600
* Windows 7 Starter OS
* 10.1 inch WSVGA LED-backlit display 1024×600 res
* 1GB DDR3 RAM
* 320GB 5400rpm HDD
* Up to 11 hours battery life
* 802.11b/g/n WLAN
* Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 with up to 218MB total graphics memory
* Unusually a charcoal grey finish!

All pretty standard specs for a netbook but what about HP’s Beats Audio feature? Well according to HP’s website netbooks with Beats Audio have a redesigned headphone jack which reduces ground noise, a discrete amp for more power and a dedicated audio island to minimise fan noise interference. All of which add up to greater sound quality, but of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it’s probably best to give the Beats Audio feature a test run before spending the extra cash on a netbook sporting the feature. And of course if sound quality isn’t important to you than you may want to look elsewhere for your netbook.

Pros – price, weight, sound quality
Cons – Windows 7 Starter no USB 3.0 port

The Asus Eee 1215B is great looking netbook with excellent battery life and a larger than usual display which squares out at 12.1 inches on the diagonal. The netbook may be a bit heavier than expected but that’s to enable the great battery life which is supposed to be around the 8 hour mark, and it sports an HDMI output along with three USB ports.

With it’s 11.6 inch HD screen, this little sucker will pump out your Hi-Def files courtesy of the ATI Radeon™ HD 6250 Graphics processor lurking under the hood. Toshiba NB505 reviews

LaptopMag – 4 out of 5
PCWorld – 3 out of 5
Qubok – 4 out of 5
Amazon – 4.5 out of 5

Pros – multiple colors, long battery life, runs cool, full-size keyboard
Cons – oversensitive touchpad, Skype issues, slow performer

So the Toshiba NB505 netbook averages a touch under 4 out of 5 which isn’t too bad for a netbook that doesn’t really stand out in the netbook crowd. We’re going to give it a thumbs up, but check out any deals on other similar netbooks as the Toshiba NB505 is not really a standout unit.

We tracked down a few online reviews of the Toshiba NB550D and here’s what they say

PC Advisor – sturdy, HD output, good precessor, low battery life

CNet – 8.5 out of 10  – decent visual design, good overall performance, excellent graphics performance for a netbook-style computer, low battery life at maximum performance, memory allocation is low

PC World – 3.75 out of 5 – good overall performance and better-than-usual multimedia features for a netbook, good sound from speakers, low battery life, less glossy screen and a slightly smoother touchpad
